The party successfully takes on a challenge and reaps the rewards, reaching level 11. We’re solidly in the third act of the campaign, so I’m excited to see how they do next session!

In these posts, I discuss my roguelike-inspired D&D campaign sessions.

In this session…

The party rose to the challenge, defeating powered-up forms of the bosses successfully. They earned a level and secured another shard of Lucia’s power. In the future, Lucia will be able to use more of her power to help the party while they’re in the combat phase.

Additionally, the party has been able to forge bonds of friendship with some of the NPCs, which is great! I’m happy that they’ve interacted with the roleplay section. Plus, this will help them get farther along in the dungeon.

Next session, they’ll be able to put their full attention towards reaching the third and final threshold guardian—and, perhaps, the final challenge of the dungeon!

For next time

So, I need to make sure the final challenges are in place! Ideally, I need to make sure the final fight is done, plus sketch out the “end” of the dungeon. That can naturally lead to me hashing out the completion of the campaign. There’s still some plot threads to resolve, and I really hope I can deliver on the emotional payoffs here.

But what I need to focus on is getting a different virtual tabletop solution set up, since Astral Tabletop is shutting down next week… so realistically, that will eat up a lot of prep time. Fortunately everything I “need” prep-wise is sketched out. So even if I don’t get to polishing that writing up, it still exists and that’s the baseline that I need.

Wish me luck!
