Finnith and Allora temporarily become lagomorphs. The group enters the Tomb of Stars and gains an audience with Caelynn Amastacia.

In these posts, I talk about the campaign I play in and our most recent session!

Recap

Last session, the group made the climb to the peak of Angorod, the tallest mountain of the Gray Crescent Mountains. They fought off the powerful guardian of the Tomb of Stars, Maiathah Miranor.

In this session…

As the group approaches the door to the mausoleum, a magical trap is set off. Most of the group is unscathed, but Finnith, Allora, and Frikka are polymorphed into rabbits.

The door is locked, with every other letter filled in to the passcode. The phrase on the door says, “We who act within shadows stand guard.”

Unfortunately, the group thinks that Finnith stands the best chance of solving this… but he’s a rabbit. Daear dispels the effect on Finnith and the rabbit they think is Allora, but that one turns out to be Frikka. Finnith explains the polymorph spell in more depth. Once it’s clear that the spell ends when the animal’s hit points are diminished, Daear throws a dagger at the rabbit  who is Allora and successfully dispels the effect.

This causes a bit of chaos as Allora attacks Daear back, and Nala also attacks him. Baala’rug uses thaumaturgy to yell “stop!” while Finnith is working on the door lock. Thus, just as Finnith unlocks the door, snow from the peak begins falling down… and the group is able to make it inside just as the avalanche reaches the area.

Inside the tomb, the group finds hidden records of the Sidus Council and the Sidus Conclave. Deeper within is a door that leads to where Caelynn Amastacia’s ashes are kept. When they get there, they are questioned by a projection of Senrichiou, the amethyst dragon. Finnith and Baala’rug explain that Neroth poses a great danger to the world, and they’re preparing to oppose him. With that, Senrichiou opens a portal into a place that appears to be within Limbo.

A huge crystalline flower holds an orb at its center. There, the group meets the spirit (?) of Caelynn Amastacia, the first elven historian and a powerful psionic. They enter into the orb, which seems to be a pocket dimension in the shape of a glade with a starry night sky above. Caelynn Amastacia invites the group to rest before telling her everything that has happened so far—for they are part of the “flames of darkest night,” who she prophesied would arrive here.
