The party once again fails to defeat the final boss. They briefly commiserate before renewing their determination to fight.

In these posts, I discuss my roguelike-inspired D&D campaign sessions.

In this session…

Despite having some good equipment from their dungeon run, the party is beaten back by the hosts’ powerful attacks. (I’ll work on ways they can reduce that damage)

In the tavern, they blow off some steam before resolving to try again. Enna attempts to make friends with Ivnir, the dragon. Thorin spends some time with Pen, and they have an interesting conversation. The party also makes some equipment adjustments.

For next time

I’m working on a way in-fiction for them to reduce the damage they take from the final battle. It also helps me to have some scenarios and dialogue on hand for roleplay sections so I make sure that we have a jumping-off point. This makes things easier for the players to interact with rather than a blank slate.
