In this session, the group broke through to the third area! Everyone is excited to keep moving forward. In these posts, I talk about my roguelike-inspired D&D campaign sessions.

In this session…

The party defeated the first boss, then progressed all the way to the second boss! They were able to take advantage of the puzzle mechanic to speed up the second boss fight. Then they progressed to the third area, which is covered in snow and ice.

In the tavern, they continued interacting with the NPCs. Two of the three PCs are pursuing extra skill proficiencies in the Archives. Roleplay this time was more low-key due to external factors, but I think everyone still enjoyed it!

For next time

Next session, the party will encounter a new NPC that I need to prepare. I also will continue putting scenes in between the NPCs for the PCs to interact with. I want to offer freedom to the PCs in who they interact with. But the pre-written scenes help kickstart things when the players are more passive.

I also need to add more items for the party to find and unlock. Plus, the third area and third boss need some finishing touches. I’m happy with how the party has progressed thus far!
