We skipped the December session, so I made sure this session contained new developments in the story. I think I was able to deliver on that! In these posts, I talk about my roguelike-inspired D&D campaign sessions.

In this session…

The party made it to the second area once more. They had a strange encounter with a celestial being, who has possibly returned to the Tavern area with them as a person with memory loss. The player characters can now skip straight to the first boss encounter in the Dungeon, which will allow them to get further in to the second area.

They also unlocked another room in the Tavern, plus a potential way to enhance their living areas a bit more. This is inspired off of the House Contractor in Hades. I don’t know exactly what the players want out of a system like this, so I’ve taken some suggestions from them.

The party has also secured one diamond for revivify usage per run. This will certainly help them out of some sticky situations! They gained a level at the end of this session as well.

For next time

I’m going to prepare some fun NPC interactions the party can stumble into in the Tavern. I’ll also make sure that the second area is fully fleshed-out on the off chance they progress through all of it (though that is unlikely).

A few more NPCs are left to introduce. Another one could appear in the next session. But, I want to gauge whether that would be too much given that the roster has expanded in our last two sessions.

Everyone seems to be enjoying the recent developments, so I hope I can keep that excitement up as a Dungeon Master!
