In this session, the party continues to prepare for the battle against the Coven of Eternal Light. Nala and Allora commission some armor and weapon upgrades. After that, Finnith finally confronts the Fëanor family drama.

These posts are where I talk about the campaign I play in and what happened in our most recent session!

What’s SBotLL?

That’s the name of the campaign I play in! It’s been running for over four years now. There are two parties, one on the surface and one in the Underdark. I play in the surface squad as the elf bard Finnith, and my two friends play the dragonborn rogue Nala and the tiefling ranger Allora. The Underdark group is made of the changeling rogue “Wethryn,” the tiefling monk Baala’rug, and the drow ranger Eliera.

The Underdark group has reached the surface, but our party remains unaware of that…

Recap

Last session, the party restored another piece of Vindus and met the Eternal Diamond, an ancient diamond gemstone dragon. They’ve completed their objectives at the Gray Crescent Mountains, so it’s time to go back to the Awoken Flame.

In this session…

The party returns to the Awoken Flame. Preparations are still in progress for the battle against the Coven. Nala regains her equipment, since the Eternal Diamond dispelled the ice curse on them. Nala and Allora talk to the gnome artificer, Namfoodle Scheppen, about some different upgrades. Nala commissions an upgrade to her magic rapier, Glaseiron. Allora puts in an order for armor for her giant bear.

After his conversations with Eliera and other previously unknown Fëanor family members, Finnith determines that this is the time to confront his parents about it. He’s found out a lot about the Fëanor family that was never told to him growing up.

So the party travels back to Finnith’s hometown, the port of Clearwater.

Finnith takes his father aside and starts with, “I know about Eliera,” and soon enough it all comes to light. The Fëanors used to be a noble family. They participated in the Sidus Council and, later, in the surveillance on the people banished to the Underdark. When his brother refused to take part in this, the duty fell to Adren, who accepted because he didn’t want to jeopardize his status in the family before marrying Thia.

There’s more that Adren can’t tell Finnith, or he risks breaching the oath of secrecy—doing so would end in his death. But more pieces are coming together.

After Adren found out that his father ordered for Eliera and her mother to be killed, he and his brother took measures to erase the Fëanor’s noble status. They destroyed records in the Orosta building, burnt down the Fëanor estate in Alame’a, and killed their father. Except that last part didn’t work. He came back as a revenant bent on Adren’s destruction. So Adren and Thia sealed him deep beneath Alame’a, the capital.

Unknown to Finnith, Thia is a part of the noble Miranor family. She cut ties with them and moved to Clearwater with Adren. To seal away the revenant, she used the sealing magic passed down in the Miranor family. Thia and Adren learned the apothecary trade from Adren’s mother before she passed away, hence their current status as apothecaries in Clearwater.

After this revelation, Finnith and his parents talk through things some more. He warns them about Eliera’s desire for revenge against the family. They agree to make preparations to leave in case she makes it to the surface.

The party spends a bit of time taking a break in Clearwater before it’s time to head back. When they return to the Awoken Flame, Amuulqalo and Rupert Tiasthmus—two NPC allies/love interests for Nala and Allora—have returned to help with the upcoming battle.
