In this session, Nala speaks to a far away ally and is challenged to reconsider some of her ideas. Allora secures a safe place for the evacuation of the Awoken Flame while Finnith attempts to be a listening ear.

These campaign diary posts are where I talk about the campaign I play in and what happened in the most recent session!

What’s SBotLL?

That’s the name of the campaign I play in! It’s been running for over four years now. There are two parties, one on the surface and one in the Underdark. I play in the surface squad as the elf bard Finnith, and my two friends play the dragonborn rogue Nala and the tiefling ranger Allora. The Underdark group is made of the changeling rogue “Wethryn,” the tiefling monk Baala’rug, and the drow ranger Eliera.

As a note, the Underdark group is on the surface now, though our party doesn’t know that quite yet…

Recap

Last session, the party took a break from travelling to stay at Tymora’s shrine. Allora got to know her parents, Tymora and Lucan Fëanor. Allora and Nala overhear Finnith fretting about telling Antonio his feelings, so they encourage/bully him to go through with it. (He does.) Meanwhile, Nala and Allora discuss Nala’s somewhat rocky friendship with Amuulqalo, her bodyguard who is currently away.

In this session…

Nala goes to find Finnith so that he can cast dream to allow her to talk to Amuulqalo, who is on his way to meet up with the party in the next few weeks.

She and Amuulqalo have an extended conversation in the dream call (as our group has termed it). Nala learns more about Amuulqalo and his warlock patron, who he formed a pact with when he was only 5 years old. As the youngest son of his clan’s noble family, Amuulqalo didn’t have much expected of him other than “don’t mess it up for your important siblings.” He finds similarities in how Nala talks about her younger brother, Pious, and how his relatives spoke about him. Nala realizes that even though she’s dream called her father and mother, she hasn’t even thought to contact her brother, even though her family is in captivity due to a royal power struggle.

This conversation gives Nala a lot to think about. The next day, Finnith and Allora talk to Tymora and Lucan and learn more about how Allora’s parents met and the mess that is the Fëanor family. After breakfast, Allora goes to get Tymora and Lucan’s permission to use the shrine as a safe place for the Awoken Flame to evacuate to in case they are attacked. Meanwhile, Nala discusses the conversation with Amuulqalo with Finnith and Antonio listening. Most of this is outside of Finnith’s wheelhouse, and Allora already gave the best advice before she left, so he mostly listens and attempts to be supportive.

Thanks for reading! Have a good week!
