New year, new Unearthed Arcana! There’s the survey for the Fighter, Rogue, Wizard UA from last year also, so go check that out as well!

It’s 2020! I hope everyone had a great New Year’s and other holiday celebrations. Took a break last week so that we could start off the new year with a bang and take a look at what Eberron: Rising from the Last War has changed about the Artificer class!
In early 2019, Wizards of the Coast released an Unearthed Arcana article revisiting the Artificer, a playtest subclass that appeared in Unearthed Arcana from 2017. Here’s where you can find my post comparing the two.
Then, a little later, WotC released another UA article that tweaked the class, added some Xanathar’s Guide to Everything spells to their spell list, and introduced new subclasses. Here’s where you can find my post about that update.
Now, we have Eberron: Rising from the Last War, which introduces the official Artificer. You’ll notice that the D&D Beyond version has updated to reflect these changes, but the UA articles retain their original information. Now, let’s get into the changes!
Continue readingEberron: Rising from the Last War changed several options that appeared in Wayfinder’s Guide to Eberron. We’ve talked about the changes to the changeling, shifter, and warforged; now let’s talk about the changes to the dragonmark options.
These updates have rolled out to Wayfinder’s Guide to Eberron, so you’ll notice that Wayfinder’s rules text now matches Rising from the Last War’s text. You can still access the older versions of the dragonmarks and the Eberron races in the Unearthed Arcana articles: Dragonmarks and Eberron Races.
Continue readingA week after we got the official Artificer class, now we’re seeing some UA psionic subclasses! This UA article features subclasses for the staple classes of D&D: the fighter, rogue, and wizard.
The survey for the last UA is also available, so go let your voice be heard!
Now let’s talk about the psychic warrior, the soulknife, and the psionics tradition subclasses!
Continue readingEberron: Rising from the Last War is here! This is a setting book for the world of Eberron, which gives a different spin to the world of Dungeons & Dragons. In this world, players can choose unique race options besides the ones presented in the Player’s Handbook—the changeling, kalashtar, shifter, and warforged.
Wayfinder’s Guide to Eberron gave us the latest version of these options before Rising from the Last War, and there have definitely been some changes! In this post, we’ll talk about these updates. (This post is mainly focused on the changeling, kalashtar, shifter, and warforged options, so we won’t address any changes made to the dragonmark character options just yet.)
Continue readingHoo boy, this Unearthed Arcana is a real big one. In this UA article, each class receives at least one enhancement or replacement for a class feature. Wizards of the Coast has portrayed these feature variants as options for a DM to enable at their discretion in their campaigns.
Also, the survey for the last Unearthed Arcana is available!
So let’s get into this big ol’ article.
Continue readingFinishing out this round of Unearthed Arcana subclasses are the fighter, ranger, and rogue! Now, each official class has received a new subclass. I wonder what WotC is cooking up back there…
Also, the survey for the last article is up, so go make your opinions known for the cleric, druid, and wizard UA!
This most recent article introduces a giant-inspired fighter, a stranger ranger, and a spooky rogue!
Continue readingIt’s time for more Unearthed Arcana! Surprisingly enough, we’ve got three new subclasses this time, one for the cleric, druid, and wizard classes. All that’s left now to get UA subclasses are fighter, ranger, and rogue! If you haven’t already, don’t forget to take the survey for last UA’s bard and paladin subclasses.
Let’s get into it—we’ve got an intrepid cleric, a fiery druid, and a pretty unique wizard to look at!
Continue readingDungeons & Dragons and other tabletop roleplaying games are full of unexpected situations. This is part of what makes the game fun! No matter which side of the DM’s screen you’re on, you’re never completely in control of the game. What happens is up to a combination of chance and the players at the table.
So, it’s important for everyone to be comfortable and enjoy themselves at the table.
Monte Cook Games, a company known for the Cypher System and games like Numenera, has released a free PDF called Consent in Gaming by Sean K. Reynolds and Shanna Germain. It’s available at DriveThruRPG.
With the “Tackle mature content with confidence!” tagline, Consent in Gaming aims to give players and DMs/GMs “the strategies you need to make sure everyone at the table has a great experience, even when the game goes in a challenging direction.”
Continue readingNew Unearthed Arcana is turning into a trend, and I’m not complaining! So far, we’ve gotten UA for the barbarian and monk, the sorcerer and the warlock, and now the bard and the paladin! (The classes who haven’t received UA in this round yet are wizard, druid, fighter, rogue, ranger and cleric—we’ve already covered half of the official classes!)
We’ve got a talkative bard subclass and a heroic paladin subclass in this article. Also, the survey for the sorcerer and warlock UA article is available.
