The combined parties continue on! The parties discuss their new friends, Finnith tries to help, and once they reach the capital, a drinking contest ensues.
These posts are where I talk about the campaign I play in and our most recent session!
About SBotLL
SBotLL is the campaign I play in that has been running for over five years now. There are two parties: one mostly good-aligned party that started on the surface, and one mostly evil-aligned party that started in the Underdark.
The good-aligned party includes these characters:
- Finnith (me), high elf bard/rune scribe
- Nala, dragonborn rogue
- Allora, tiefling/elf ranger
It also includes Allora’s animal companion, Frikka the bear, plus the NPCs Amuulqalo and Rupert.
The evil-aligned party includes these characters:
- Eliera, dark elf/high elf ranger/warlock
- Cipher, changeling rogue/mystic (currently operating as a human named Albion)
- Baala’rug, tiefling monk
This group also includes Eliera’s animal companion, Artemis the dire wolf, plus the NPCs Naivara, Ivellios, and Daear (played by me).
Recap
The parties met! After some tense moments, the evil squad agreed to go with the good squad to see the revenant, Lucan Fëanor, who killed Eliera’s mother. This proves that Finnith was telling Eliera the truth about their family. Finnith, Allora, and Eliera work together to destroy the revenant. After that, they return to where they all met up, and they all embark on a trip to the elven capital, Alame’a.
In this session…
The good squad discusses the evil squad. The evil squad discusses the good squad.
In effect, both parties talk among themselves about their impressions of the other party. Allora has a power that reveals alignments, so she shares her findings with the good squad. They aren’t sure how to take the information that more than two thirds of the other party are evil… but once they return to the capital, their paths can split there. The Eliera situation was resolved earlier, so it should be fine now.
The evil squad know that Finnith has studied rune magic under Neroth, who has acted as an antagonist towards the evil squad and a mentor to Finnith. Neroth placed a rune on Daear, and the evil squad doesn’t know what all the rune can do. But they do know that it can track Daear and, if Neroth wants to, teleport him somewhere else.
Baala’rug approaches Finnith and requests his help. Finnith can’t remove the rune—he’s not quite there in his studies—but he does know another rune scribe (not Neroth) in the capital. This conversation leaves Finnith feeling a bit caught in the middle between the evil squad and Neroth, since both gave him different sides of the same story that he doesn’t know how to reconcile.
Regardless, the parties are getting to know each other better throughout the trip. This culminates in a drinking contest between some members of each party once they reach the first tavern in the capital. But in the aftermath, the evil squad realizes that Naivara and Ivellios never made it into the tavern with them?
What happened to the two evil squad NPCs? We’ll find out in a couple weeks!
